Holiday Decor Guide

This month, I'm excited to share my journey of sourcing the perfect holiday decor for my home. As I explore various shops and boutiques, I'll be highlighting my favorite finds that encapsulate the spirit of the season while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic.

Ornaments

Shopping for ornaments has become an annual tradition of mine - every year I add a few more to my collection, refining my style and elevating my tree. I also find pieces that speak to me and become more personal and representative of our family.

Invest in basic globe ornaments that will serve as your “foundation” - pick a variety of colors to determine your theme. Then, layer with different textures (velvet, metallic, matte, sparkles) and shapes (angels, figurines, snowflakes, icicles, finials, bows). Stay within the same color scheme for an harmonious look.

How many ornaments should you tree have? Note this is based on we prefer a minimalist or maximalist tree! But here’s a general rule of thumb:

  • 6 ft tree: 70-100 ornaments

  • 7 ft tree: 100-130 ornaments

  • 8 ft: 130-170 ornaments

  • 9-10 ft: 170-210 oranements

How do I properly hang and arrange the ornaments? Evenly distribute the ornaments to create a balance look, meaning distribute the shapes, the size and the colors evenly to balance and avoid clumping. Add small ornaments last to fill smaller gaps and create depth. Remember to space the ornaments equally, and to put some ornaments at different depths in the tree. Avoid only putting them on the surface. I promise, this will transform your tree and make it more luxurious!

Festive Home

Here are some of my favorite items for this holiday season. I tend to navigate around a theme of colors, but incorporate a blend of textures to add depth and interest. Consider using soft textiles, such as pillows and throws, alongside some metallic and wood objects. Holiday decor is also about the greenery, so don’t hesitate to add - garlands, wreaths, vases. Make your holiday decor both cozy and festive. Click the image to shop!
